Laughter Yoga

An exercise involving prolonged voluntary laughter based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides similar physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter.

How It Works

Laughter Yoga is usually done in groups and may start with warm-up techniques like stretching, chanting, clapping, eye contact and body movement to relax inhibitions and encourage playfulness. 

​

The two main aspects are breathwork and laughter exercises.

 

Breathing exercises are used to prepare the lungs for laughter, and involve deep belly or diaphragm breathing, like what's used in traditional styles of yoga.

 

Laughter exercises are designed to lead everyone into laughter, and are easy and playful, and may involve acting and visualization.

 

Often, intentional laughter becomes real, contagious laughter!

I love all things whimsical, fun and happy! 

 

I've been practicing Laughter Yoga since 2006 and became certified as a leader in 2019. Ever since, I've been incorporating it into my role in law enforcement.

​

Years ago, I made a conscious decision to focus on my mental health and well being. Laughter Yoga has become a staple in my life in working towards a healthier lifestyle.

​

I would like nothing more than to encourage others to laugh everyday as well as inspire, motivate and show them laughter like they’ve never experienced before.
